What is it?
Free video-based advice and encouragement from real dads, for kids without dads.
Obviously this can’t match the value of a real dad. This is not a substitute for professional counselling. This is not about right and wrong. We’re not super-dads, or even particularly great dads necessarily. We just love our kids and want to share that dad kind of love with those who need it. So this is our way of trying to fill the “absent dad” gap as best we can.
The videos will cover areas such as:
- Respect for mums!
- Friends/social interaction
- When you’re sick, feel “stuck”, etc.
- Beliefs and dreams
How did it start?
An online conversation with a hard-working single mum and my neighbour’s son running away coincided to birth a simple, inspired idea — what if there was a way to bring a little more “dad” kind of love and help into these people’s lives?
How you can help…
IF YOU’RE A LOVING DAD
We’d love to hear you speak, as if to your own child, encouraging, loving words of advice about the areas listed above. We’ll be sharing videos on this website and beyond, so you just have to be okay with being on camera (don’t worry too much about it — if you genuinely love your kids, then this will be easy — we know you’ll do great!).
Primarily, if you live anywhere between Byron Bay and Brisbane (or nearby), we’ll come to you. Say hello and we’ll give you the details!
If you live outside this area, please still drop us a line and we’ll explain how you can help.
IF YOU’RE A SOLO MUM (OR EVEN JUST FEEL LIKE IT)
We’re here to help YOU! So please like our Facebook page so you get all the updates and videos to share with your kids 🙂
IF YOU ARE, OR WERE, A KID WITHOUT A DAD
We’d love to connect with you and maybe share your story if you think it might help others? … What is/was it like for you most of the time? And what is/was it like when other people’s dads help you out and hang out with you? Email us if you’re over 15, or maybe check in first with your mum/carer if you’re under 15.
IF YOU’RE ANYONE ELSE!
Please share our website or Facebook page with any solo mums you might know. Thank you!
When will it be ready?
We’re hoping to get the first set of videos out (and a better website! haha) within the next couple of months! Like our Facebook page so you’ll know as soon as it’s ready.
